At Baylake Pines School, the main responsibility of the Resource Teacher is to collaborate with the classroom teachers in order to best meet the needs of all the students. At the request of the classroom teacher, the Resource Teacher may work one on one with a student or in small groups depending on the needs of the students. Informal assessments may be administered in order to further determine a students's specific learning needs. The Resource Teacher also conducts all admissions testing, as well as oversees all aspects of annual standerized testing for current students in Kindergarten through 7th Grades.
Martha Roebuck has been the Resource Teacher at Baylake Pines since 2003. Mrs. Roebuck has a BA from James Madison University and a Masters in Education from Old Dominion University. She is currently pursuing a second Masters in Reading.
The Guidance Department at Baylake Pines School is a program developed to assist the students, faculty, and parents within the Baylake Pines School community. The services of this department encompass the entire school, which begins with our 3 year old class and ends with our 8th grade class. Services include but are not limited to, assisting children in identifying their feelings, transitioning academically, socially and emotionally, entrance into the various Academic Academies and private schools upon graduation, and finally, providing emotional support to our children, parents and staff on an as needed basis.
