BAYLAKE PINES SCHOOL LOWER SCHOOL PROGRAM
3 year olds, Pre-Kindergarten & Senior Pre-K
Our lower school elementary curriculum is constructed to set the foundational principles of each subject in kindergarten, then progress in complexity at each grade level. Recognizing that every person’s learning pace and style is unique, we tailor our teaching methods to each child’s needs. This differentiated approach is designed to advance in step with each student’s physical, emotional and psychological development. Having a low teacher-student ratio enables us to ensure that each child is able
to master an individual concept first, and then build to the next step. Creative, collaborative and interactive classroom activities ensure students are experiencing content in auditory, visual and tactile ways. This sensory reinforcement enables students to move new concepts
from short-term into long-term memory.
Baylake Pines also offers our Primary Program which is designed for those students who are not quite ready for First Grade. This year gives a child who may need a little more time to mature or who may have a late birthday an extra year before First Grade.
First Grade also marks the transition into our school uniforms. Our students wear Lands' End School wear clothing to ensure a proper school appearance. Guidelines can be found by clicking the link below. We have school
wear re-sales several times a year to offer parents the opportunity to sell uniforms that are still in good condition and to purchase lightly used uniforms.
Baylake Pines Lower School Preschool classes offer a nurturing environment that values cooperation, respect, and diversity while providing a haven for students to begin their schooling with confidence and enjoyment.
Our preschool program thrives on providing children with opportunities to explore, experiment and collaborate with their peers as they engage in activities and manipulate materials that promote socialization, higher-order thinking skills, and pretend play. Our curriculum offers teachers and children the chance to work collaboratively to connect the interests of the students to real-world experiences and lessons in the classroom. We recognize the unique skills and abilities of each student and focus intently on educating the “whole child,” including their emotional needs, social growth, physical development and cognitive capabilities.
Our teachers act as guides and role models to encourage the development of problem-solving techniques that provide many opportunities for children to learn independently and in cooperation with their fellow peers. In addition, we set clear and easy-to-understand guidelines to promote success and confidence at all levels.
Baylake Pines Lower School offers quality care for students in our Extended Care Program until 5:30 pm each school day. Our program offers homework assistance, structured and free play activities (including dramatic play), arts and crafts and more.
Our staff create an environment where children can feel safe, while providing an opportunity for academic and social growth. We also offer yoga and dance weekly to students and other enrichment activities including soccer. Our program leaders are respectful and positive toward students, mindful of the importance of appropriate role models.
Providing children with the opportunity to engage in pretend play gives them the chance to reenact reality that recognizes and respects their interests and skills. We provide children with opportunities in art activities based on the developmental level and interest of children, and emphasize the process of their creation rather than the final product.
Art provides the children a means in which they can think creatively, use their imagination as they develop a sense of individuality and use their social, physical and cognitive abilities.
